Getting Excited All Over Again

I'm getting excited about Farm Hack all over again. My advisor Stew and a committee of other folks in my department at school are organizing the next American Ecological Engineering Society Conference in June. Stew told me all about the conference in October and in November I interviewed him about it for my Daily Orange column to publicize the call for abstracts. My department linked to that column three separate times on their website, which I thought was kind of cute.

Anyways, Stew had encouraged me to submit an abstract, especially about Farm Hack. I hadn't really given it much thought until now over winter break. My report will need to be about how Farm Hack relates to ecological engineering. I expect to write about how Farm Hack functions as a collaboration between farmers, ecological engineers and other professionals under the people and planning, and sustainable food systems headings at the conference.

Finally getting my butt in gear happens to coincide with Farm Hack launching its new forum. It's so exciting - there is so much potential for discussion. I really need to learn more about open source things and about tools people use to share information.

I suppose the topic of my report will boil down to how to make Farm Hack as effective as possible at bringing together farmers, designers and other professionals. There is certainly a whole bunch of researching and talking to people ahead of me. I am so thankful for the Farm Hack community.
